E-CORE/CIEL Communities of Practice (CoPs)
The E-CORE/CIEL Communities of Practice (CoPs) started in June 2020 as part of the project’s work to generate and coordinate supports as engineering educators shifted online. The aim of the CoPs is to provide an accessible space for instructors, staff, teaching assistants, and other engineering educators across Canada to connect and share ideas, discuss challenges, and celebrate successes.
In May 2021, several of the E-CORE/CIEL CoPs were amalgamated into one large E-CORE/CIEL Engineering Educators Community of Practice. This CoP has weekly meetings with each having a pre-set topic and some discussion prompts. However, as with all our E-CORE/CIEL CoPs, emerging issues that participants bring will be prioritized.
Within each group, there are opportunities for large group discussions, breakout rooms for smaller discussions, and resource sharing between members. The CoPs are a space to receive just-in-time support for emerging issues, discuss ideas and challenges with national colleagues, and share resources – they may even potentially spark working groups for resources that don’t yet exist!
The table below will be updated with planned CoP meetings as they are scheduled. To sign up for our Communities of Practice and receive the meeting invites, join our mailing list:
|Community of Practice||Upcoming Meeting Times||Planned Discussion Topics|
|Engineering Educators CoP||July 27th, 3:00PM ET|
August 4th, 2:00PM ET
Continues weekly, alternating:
Tuesdays 3:00PM ET
Wednesdays 2:00PM ET
|First-Year Instructors||August 5th, 3:00 PM ET|
Sessions continue biweekly on Thursdays at 3:00 PM ET
Once you have signed up using the CoP Signup Form, you will begin receiving emails and meeting invites for the CoP(s) you sign up for from the CoP Facilitator that runs that group. We look forward to seeing you at the meetings!
Please note that the meeting topics outlined in the table above are subject to change based on the needs of the community. Additionally, the above Communities of Practice are currently conducted in English.
