Please join us on Friday April 1st for the Teaching in Practice (TIP) session.

This is a will be a fun opportunity to connect with other passionate instructors and inspire your teaching practice. Our purpose is to provide an opportunity for teaching focused faculty to build community by offering a venue for sharing experiences and best practices throughout the year.

                This event is open to the public, CEEA Membership is not required.

Agenda:

  • Tip 1: A Real-World Term Project in Engineering Economics Facilitated through Riipen: Lessons Learned
  • Tip 2:  Using in-class worksheets to actively engage students in Statics and Dynamics

Sharing: Engaging discussion about the tips and other teaching practices.

Speakers

Dr. Catherine Tatarniuk, P.Eng.


Dr. Catherine Tatarniuk, P.Eng., is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Engineering at Thompson Rivers University (TRU). Prior to joining TRU, Catherine spent over 10 years in engineering consulting as a geotechnical engineer. Catherine joined TRU in August 2020 and teaches a variety of general engineering courses in the Bachelor of Software Engineering program.

Dr. Shelley Lorimer, P.Eng


Dr. Shelley Lorimer, P.Eng. is a Professor of Engineering in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at MacEwan.  She is the recipient of the YWCA Women of Distinction Award (2013) for her role in establishing the first-year engineering program at MacEwan.  Her research interests include reservoir simulation of enhanced oil recovery processes, nonlinear diffusion in porous media, and engineering education pedagogies.
