Overview
The shift to remote education has presented instructors with many challenges. In engineering, one of the biggest challenges is shifting the experiential learning from hands-on laboratories to remote settings. Institutions with spring/summer terms have been faced with this challenge for months now, and undoubtedly have first-hand experience that might be valuable to others.
In the third installment of this webinar series, we will continue to take a ‘case study approach’, and look behind the curtain of the experiences from one institution – University of Waterloo.
By the end of this session, participants will:
- Understand the most pressing challenges, successful solutions, and unexpected surprises faced by instructors teaching lab courses remotely this summer
- Have the opportunity to gather insight on current pressing questions
- Connect with others who teach similar courses, or face similar challenges
Facilitated by: Jenn Coggan and Cheryl Newton (U Waterloo)
Please note: this session is not intended to ‘present the correct way to teach labs online’. Instead, it will offer perspectives from instructors who now have some experience running entire lab courses remotely. We invite you to bring an open mind, as we try and learn as a community.
