Transforming Learners to Transform Our World

Conference 2022

Conference Registration will be open from April 8 — June 15, 2022

Join us for an opportunity to network with your fellow peers, stay informed about the industry and share ideas that create lasting impact.

We want to grow a critical mass engaged in engineering and science education as well as leadership that is committed to reimaging engineers and scientists of tomorrow.

Our Theme

Transforming Learners to Transform Our World is the theme for the CEEA Conference held at the Lassonde School of Engineering in 2022. Our goal throughout the CEEA conference is to create a culture that hums with curiosity, welcomes ambiguity and is always hungry for learning. We embrace taking risks and making change and through the CEEA conference want to grow a critical mass engaged in engineering and science education and leadership that is committed to reimaging engineers and scientists of tomorrow – ‘Our Learners’.

Why This Matters

Our Learners will play a crucial role in shaping the future and have a greater responsibility to address the United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and thereby tackle the world’s ‘Wicked’ problems. How do we ensure that we can engage our Learners to solve relevant, complex and socially impacted problems? How do we bring together people who are not afraid to push, bend, twist and break apart the boundaries of traditional engineering practice? Through a collaboratorium focused conference program, we want to co-create new models for Transforming Learners to Transform Our World. Our proposed theme and program for the conference will focus on imagining an engineer that cannot yet be imagined, to meet the problems of tomorrow that are yet to be conceived.

Benefits to Hosting the Conference

In deciding whether to apply to host the conference, there are numerous benefits to consider.

• Hosting the conference raises the visibility of engineering education engagement on your campus, including with senior university officials.
• Participating in the planning, organizing, and delivering a conference is an excellent opportunity for faculty to gain valuable educational leadership and service experience, including that recognized in promotion and tenure cases. Host campus staff and students who get involved in organizing the conference also gain valuable leadership skills and experiences.
• The University President, Faculty Dean, Department Head, or another senior official has the opportunity to welcome and address the conference participants. The process of preparing the remarks often serves to deepen their understanding and appreciation of engineering education engagement and learning at your institution.
• Local provincial or municipal elected officials also have the opportunity to welcome and address conference participants, or sometimes they may write a welcoming letter to include in the programme or proceedings. As with university officials, this experience deepens the understanding and appreciation of engineering education.
• Hosting the conference raises the visibility and improves the reputation of your institution and your engineering program externally (within the region, with other universities and industry throughout the nation, and internationally).
• Hosting provides the opportunity for a large number of your students, staff, and faculty to attend and participate in the conference, to expand networks, and to learn from engineering education leaders from across the country.
• Hosting the conference is an opportunity for your institution to support and advance the field of engineering education in Canada and abroad.
• CEEA-ACÉG has an agreement in place to share profit between the host institution and the association. This is disclosed in an MOU.
